I have no real news, but I came across this quote in one of the stories I had to read for class.

"The best moments in reading are when you come across something - a thought, a feeling, a way of looking at things - which you had thought special and particular to you. And now, here it is, set down by someone else, a person you have never met, someone even who is long dead. And it is as if a hand has come out, and taken yours."

-Hector from The History Boys by Alan Bennett

Coincidentally played by Richard Griffiths who plays Uncle Vernon in the Harry Potter movies.

*The More You Know*

So, I was lying in bed watching the space shuttle land this morning and NBC cuts over to this kids show made by the same people who made Veggie Tales (The one with the Christian Cucumber).

So I see this kid on a show called 3-2-1 Penguins! and I see this guy... He looks almost EXACTLY like me AND his name is Jason!

Yeah, so I've had a few odd dreams the past few days.

It's one dream really. The odd thing is is that it's like a mystery. I've had it twice, each time I find out more about what happened.

In dream one, I wake up in a bed in this old style home/hotel/ bed and breakfast type place. I get out of bed and check in the adjoining room and I see that the bed in that room is messed up. The sheets are all out of place. I know something's wrong and the person that should be in the bed isn't. So I turn around and leave.

Then I wake up.

In dream 2, I wake up in the SAME bed, in the SAME room and follow the SAME path to th other bed and see it messed up in the SAME way. This time, when I turn around to leave the room, I head down the nearby stairs, knowing something's wrong. I open the door only to find out from a panicky caterer that the wedding can;t go on because the bride's missing.

Then I wake up.

Any ideas?

You get overwhelmed by too much noise and commotion and do not like thrill-seeking activities. You prefer dealing with either people or things rather than ideas. You regard intellectual exercises as a waste of your time. You do not like to claim that you are better than other people, and generally shy from talking yourself up, however there are times when you believe that a certain amount of deception in social relationships is necessary, however you are mostly candid, frank and sincere. People find it moderately easy to relate to you. Your sense of duty and obligation is average and although you are mostly responsible you can sometimes be unreliable.

Take a Personality Test now or view the full Personality Report.

The best UGG Boots.

Yeah, so I got a Spanish exam back today in class. I got a 98, but I answered one of the 2 pt extra question questions which bumped me up to a 100!

I wa sreally surprised. I'm good at the reading and the vocab part of Spanish. And my pronounciation is pretty good, but my speaking's a little rusty. So that was a surprise. I have to give a 5 minute oral presentations "sin notas" in SPANISH on El Dia de Los Muertos on Friday. It shouldn't be too hard. I like the holiday, and we're allowed to use pictures to help jog our memories (no words tho).

Oh and I found out my grade for my latest geography exam. I got a 100! I think I literally crapped myself. I wasn't happy with the amount of time i spent studying and I wasn't sure on a lot of the answers but a 100?! Yeah, it caught me off guard, not complaining at all, I'm just surprised.

Oh and I got inducted into Lambda Iota Tau the Literature Honor Society yesterday! It was a nice, quiet ceremony, half the people they were honoring didn't even show up and I got to see one of my friends that i haven't seen in a while. Plus I got a nifty certificate and a decal for my car (currently 1000's of miles away....) and my honor cords for graduation.

:)

Apparently I'm awesome. Who knew?

Well, I was cleaning up my room, taking stuff off the walls to get ready to move out and I decided to finally scan in some of my old pictures.

Wow, you clicked? Loser. :P

This is my kitty, Annie.

Me and my brother at my high school graduation.

Me and my mom wearing the 3D glasses they gave you with Nightmare Before Christmas 3D.

One of my favorite pictures of me and my mom. This was apparently during my "Three Muskateer Phase".

Two photostrips of me and my mom at the zoo.

and

Me goofing off at work.

Me and two of my work friends on my last day. I actually think I'm the only one who looks moderately decent in this picture.

A very young me in Wyoming visiting Jeo.
Thanks for the input Jess, that's pretty much what I'm going to do. I found a course offered online at Quinsigamond community college that's pretty much exactly what I would've taken at WSC. I just need to figure out the technical crap.

So I also got the invite from the English Honor Society. The Induction Ceremony is April 22 on campus. I told my mom, she can't make it. I told my dad, he can't make it. I sent an e-mail to my brother seeing if he was free, but i'm starting to doubt it.

Bah. Can you fly in for the day, Jeo? We'll paint the campus purple! I have class the next day, but you get the picture.

God, this school has NO idea how to handle long distance students!

So yeah... today was an ... odd day.

Yeah so I have Thursdays off from class and I was planning on going to the store on an abnormally nice day and heading over to this teacher's office. See, I need to take some summer courses and all of the courses offered are hybrid. Partially online, partially on campus. I obviously can't commute from Florida to Massachusetts. But news about that later.

See, I've been following the Noah/Luke romance on the soap opera As the World Turns. They've basically been assholes to the fans for a long time because they caved in to fundamentalist paranoia. Around Christmas, the two boys, Luke and Noah shared a tender moment. Noah did something that was very hard for him: he said that he loved Luke out loud. Noah and Luke lean in to kiss and the camera pans up to the misletoe. It was just so.... LAME. It was later called an "artistic decision". Right, and I'm Queen Victoria. So for the longes time, while all the hetero couples are jumping from bed to bed and one woman was actually using this man solely for his sperm because she was SO desperate to get a baby... Luke and Noah were reduced to hand holding and pecks on the forehead.

So, eventually Noah eneters a fake marraige with this complete stranger who claims to know his father so she can get a green card and stay in the counrty. That's actually the best I can explain it. It makes no sense. So, Noah and his shame wife manage to get a place together because the INS is behaving like an olde timey cartoon supervillain complete with the moustache.

Noah and his wife get their own place and, they think, they finaly get some time alone. Noah and Luke get REALLY hot and heavy. To the point where they're panting, shirtless and breathing each other's names. Of course as soon as they're about to get intimate, INS bursts in and they have to save their hides.

They do, but it makes no sense that the same people who were so scared to show a gay kiss can show two guys shirtless, in a tender embrace, in bed together panting each other's names.

Then of course, Luke leaves and Noah's wife suggests to Noah that they have to sleep in the same bed in case INS comes by again. Seriously the INS guy on this show is hilariously evil. He'd actually stand in the bedroom to make sure Noah and his wife "consumate" the marraige.

So Noah's wife smirks when she gets her way. I go through 3 differnt emotions in one episode.

So the episode ends and I send an e-mail to the professor I mentioned earlier. I spray on some cologne, I make sure my hair looks good and I change my shirt to a non-snarky one and head out the door to talk to the professor in person, figuring he'd have a harder time turning me down if I see him in person. Well, he's out til Monday.

So I leave his office and get back to my room only to find an e-mail from him saying he can't do the course fully online. Something about too much stuff coming from discussions. Some BS like that. So now I'm stuck. I'm going to see if I can meet with my advisor tomorrow and see what she suggests. I could do 5 courses in the fall semester, but I REALLY don't want to do that again. My mom suggested seeing if my school teams up with another school and taking a course online through them. Might be an option.

I get furious and figure I need to do something violent, so I play Super Smash Bros. Brawl to ease the pain. It works for a bit.

Later on, I'm coming in from something and I run into my suitemate Chris. I tell him that I was going to go to the store, take advantage of the nice weather. He eventually talks me in to letting him drive me to the store. So I agree and we head to the nearest supermarket. We get the food and start to head back to campus. AT this intersection, we notice this little coffee shop called "Express Yourself Coffee". We decide to go in and we sit outside with our coffee. Eventually the Independent Study i'm going to take over the summer. I'm going to be doing it on Gay Male Literature. So eventually he asks "So, what made you interested in 'gay men's literature'?" So I came out to him. It went really well. We were even joking about it at one point. He saw this guy walking past the coffeeshop with a lot of tattoos and I showed him the wolf tat on my arm and he goes "Are you part Native American?" I say no and go "A bisexual, jewish, Native American... Hmm.." and we share a laugh. Good times wer ehad by all.

So we leave and later he asks me what i was thinkign of doing for dinner. I said probably just going to the cafeteria and getting take out and he talks me into eating dinner with him. We do and talk and hang out and afterwards we played ping pong in the "Living Room" hang out place on campus and I acutally had fun. I think we were there for a good hour or so. We even played video games a bit later.

So after all that I'm a bit bushed. A very long, interesting day that I was originally just planning on spending doing nothing. I have an assload of homework I could've done today, but honestly, I think I enjoyed how it all went.

So here's today's question. This is something that's been driving me crazy for a while now.

How do people not think to look both ways before crossing lanes in a parking lot? Same thing goes with intersections of any kind, regardless of stop sign presence, how do you not look (especially as a weak squishy human without a metal car around you)when you cross? I understand that cars are supposed to stop for pedestrians, but you can't count on them to stop. There's just no accounting for some people. Plus it should be an innate survival instinct, right?

SHouldn't survival of the fittest be kicking in soon?

http://www.marsnews.com/focus/life/

Basically, in 1998 NASA and President Clinton held a press conference that they (NASA) had studied a 15 million year old meteorite from Mars and they discovered fossilized bacteria. Essentially they found proof of life (at least previously existing) on Mars. Now, of course no two scientists agree, but really if they accept it then that means that the whole of science really has to step back and look at itself.

In other words.

YOU <s>WATCHED</s> READ IT, YOU CAN'T <s>UNWATCH</s> UNREAD IT!

Why I don't believe in heterosexuality/ The problem with labels

I'm going to post this to some other LJ communities later, but I figured I'd start it here. So I'm just gonna copy/paste this from here on out.

Let me start off by saying that, for the longest time, even pre-puberty I felt that love was love. When puberty hit me with it's pimply, squeaky voiced shovel I started to notice feelings for both sexes pop up. So to speak. Some days girls dominated my thoughts, other days boys dominated my thoughts. Most of the time, boys beat girls. In high school through the end of Senior year I identified as bisexual. Noone was really surprised, nor did they care. Somewhere along the line, I told myself it was wrong to have feelings for both genders and I had to pick one and stick with it. So, for the longest time, I told myself I was gay. Only gay, no icky girls for me! No matter how hot they were with all their amazing curves and if they'd be nibbling a pencil as they read a book...

Ahem

It wasn't until my second or so attempt at college when I finally re-came out as bisexual. Truth be told, I really don't feel that "bisexual" fits. But given A, B and C, B is the most accurate. As soon as I started to realize that, yes I can have feelings about boys and girls and not be a freak, I started to see sexuality in a new light.

See, the thing is, I don't think there's such a think as dichotomous sexuality (only two parts). I really think sexuality is fluid for everyone. One day you're more attracted to the opposite then the next day you're more attracted to the same sex. If you really think about it, look at how you start friendships, or relationships in any regards. What's the first thing that draws you to a person? Common interests and a connection. The same things you look for in a mate. Maybe on some, chemical level, there's something sexual in nature going on. I'm an English major, not a science major. My point is that friendships are often times based on very similar things as mates.

On another note, can anyone reading this right now honestly say they've NEVER found someone of the same sex attractive? Sure, it may not be sexual, but be honest, even on some aesthetic level, you can appreciate their beauty. Who's to say on some deep down level, you found them attractive? You may not feel like you want to have sex with them, but the attraction IS there.

I think part of the problem with all this is our society's obsession with labels. Growing up you're always told. "You're either this OR that!". There's a need to say who you are in a nice little package. Try this as an example. List off all your labels.

I am an white, agnostic, Jewish-raised, "bisexual" male, New Yorker by birth, currently a Floridian, college student in the 21-25 year age bracket who is able-bodied but has been diagnosed before with ADHD-Inattentive.

See what I mean? I could go on, but that was pretty much a paragraph right there. Why can't we just say: "I'm Jason. Nice to meet you."

So, I know this is a headline about money and crap, but ... my mind sees it as a very bizarre soap opera.

"Stocks swoon as dollar falls, gold jumps" http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080313/ap_on_bi_st_ma_re/wall_street

Dinah Dollar just got out of the hospital after being horribly druged by Gerald Gold. Dinah Dollar returns to stately Currency Compound only to see her long lost lover Steve Stocks swoon and pass out. Gerald Gold walks in, sees this tableau and jumps in shock before the camera cuts to commercial.

DUN DUN DUUUUUUUNNNN
